This may(not) come as a surprise when you hear a Senior Leader say “…, but I may be getting too mature for details.” Sound like Jerry Seinfeld, well it is close. I have heard this exact statement or a close relative of this several times in the past few years and “It pains me to say this, but I ain’t buying it”. WHY? Read on to discover.

Every leader needs to do the big picture stuff, no one is stopping them BUT in today’s technology enabled products and services if your big picture is so big that you can’t break it down into a useful/detailed implement(able) vision it will remain just that “BIG PICTURE”. So getting down and dirty with details may not be so bad if you want to see your big picture become useful big picture  for the common wo(man) i.e. ME. And this is especially true for all start-up leaders or leaders within a big corporate that don’t have time and resources to throw at the big picture just yet.

HOW is this related to (HR) technology? Well, considering all the big picture (HR) trends are either to do with technology or are technology driven, you cannot be a Jerry Seinfeld (HR) leader. As a (HR) leader with HR 2.0 or 3.0 visions, I urge you to think about the detail. This will make you a more tech-savvy (HR) leader that is ready for HR 2.0 or 3.0 whether this vision is to live and breathe metrics powered business empowerment or hiring for the right candidates that are ready to live the business visions of the future.
